And it's Weekly WIP time. Totally forgot.

Got some really good work done on the commission last night during stream. I've got some lamb in the oven and have nothing to do until 2pm, so I might watch the rest of Catch-22 and work on this some more until then. I wish the highlights were a little lighter, but I think my next lightest choice was white. And that always looks super awkward and gross, so no.

The goat got some really good progress on the sky the other night. I love that blue so much, and I feel like I'm going to go through so many skeins of it. I wish I could have found it in a cone, because it's going to be another Hawkeye. I can tell. And there's no getting around that I don't think. Oh well.

And finally, Kermit got some good work done on him too this week. I'm loving the greens in this, but I feel like between Kermit, the goat, and the horses, I'm going to be so over green for a long time. I sense a lot of green floss purchases in my future.

Someone linked to this Tumblr post a couple of days ago, and I have just spent the last two days applying it to about a million words worth of fanfic. One of AO3's biggest failings for me, of which there are many, is the inability to see where your readers are coming from. I don't need to know usernames of everyone who reads my fic, but it's always super weird to wake up to a wave of kudos and some comments from an obvious rec somewhere. Unless someone tells you who recced your fic, you're just kind of left wondering what the hell just happened.

The Tumblr post details how to use Google Analytics to fix this problem. I've always ever used it with sites that have built-in support, but I've never done it DIY like this. And it's surprisingly easy. Create a link in a way that it hides from AO3 (in this case, hiding it in an image tag), and put it in your fics. I can now see where clicks on every one of my AO3 uploads are coming from.

For those of you who keep clicking on ch21 of Midgard Legends, why? Now I'm wondering what it is about this particular chapter that got about 20 clicks today. lol

It's not completely foolproof. For instance, link clicks from a person's Tumblr, Twitter, or DW feed will return a result of Tumblr.com, Twitter.com, or Dreamwidth.org. That's because activity feed pages are unique to the person logged in, and the robot can't actually see the page the human on the other side of the screen is looking at. But if they click on a specific blog post or tweet, that URL will be be listed as the referral (unless the post has privacy settings on. Then it defaults back to the domain).

Another thing you'll notice, since you can't use javascript on AO3, is that pages without a self-defined label get funny when they're visited. You can tell it that your AO3 account is your site, and it will register clicks there, but it has a hard time actually giving pages on your account a name. There's probably a way to somehow embed that link into your page in a way that will make it work, but I'm too lazy to try.

But the end result is this is a thing that I've done. I'm too tired right now and I've already shut my stuff down, but starting tomorrow I'll try to upload one fic post here a day. Whether that's a one-shot or a single chapter of something. I want to get everything properly cross-posted. It's a lot of fic to work through, and may very likely take over a year at one post a day.

D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with [insert fic]?

It's not working on Twitch, and I need to just accept that. I got fucked up by a promo last year, and have never bounced back from it. It's weird to think that a promo would hurt a channel, but it has, immensely. I have about 300 followers, and they all look bought, because not a single one of them has ever actually watched my streams.

What's worse is that this was an official promotion run by Twitch, as part of their creative spotlight thing. I got shouted out on one of their official channels, people came in droves to follow, and now when someone new comes to my channel for the first time, they see 300 followers and no viewers. I honestly think I have to start over at this point. There's no way to purge inactive follows, so I'm just fucked.

Streaming on YouTube isn't as nice, but I think it's a bit better there. I've got some things I have to film today, and then this evening, since I'm home alone and won't have to stop awkwardly, I'll do a stream over there and see how it goes.

Also, I've set up a new pseudonym on AO3. I'll be posting some old and abandoned WIPs there, just to have them available. I'll also probably move a few over from my main pseud, just to get them off my page a bit.

Things I need to do today:

- Finish packaging up Patreon rewards and send them off
- Package up my occlupanid specimen and send it off
- Edit today's video
- Work on commissions
- Maybe do a livestream
- Possibly finish this fic I started last night

I'm so far behind on Patreon stuff right now. Being ill for as long as I was toward the end of March and in April hit me with the biggest wall of depression and I haven't wanted to do anything for a while. So last night I began assembling some of the rewards for the last two months, and finished that about 10 minutes ago. Now I just need to get into Patreon and figure out what needs to go where. In doing so last night out of laziness, I found an easier way to put together the floss, so I think one of these days I'm going to just do nothing but get that process started so everything is ready when I need it. I think there's only one person right now who even gets floss, so that's easy.

I also found a new occlupanid species the other night, and will be sending it into HORG for their catalogue. I need to document it a bit, which should only take a couple of minutes. But I need to do that and package up Patreon stuff by 1pm, which wouldn't be difficult, except my video needs to go live at noon. So I've only got four hours to do all of that.

And I went ahead today and bought some paid time for this account. Normally I only pay up one of my RP accounts, but I've been getting involved in some anon memes lately, and it's really irritating to have that stuff going into my RP folder. Now it won't. Maybe I should take advantage of that and load up on icons.

There were some things I enjoyed about this season, but I'm having much more fun reading what people had to say about it instead.

This show was so good. What the fuck happened?
milesy: Acrylic painting of Kermit the Frog (Default)
Tonight, it happens. Game of Thrones ends, and we can finally move on to the next show that will build our hopes and dreams up, only for the show-runners to fuck over the audience in a brand new and exciting way. I remain, I think, the only person in the world who hasn't seen the leaks, so I'm going in blind. I want maximum disappointment tonight when it happens. I want to not see it coming when it's completely fucking awful. My fave is probably going to win and I hate it.

Also, I woke up with a sore throat. That's always fun. I don't think I'm ill, though. I think I slept too hard and didn't wake myself up snoring like I usually do, and now my throat hurts from that. I woke up on my back, which I must never do because I can't fucking breathe, and base my assumptions off this.

Still silence from the mods on the topic of apps. I had plans with another player regarding my app, and I'm dying from this wait. The window where we're both available has come and gone, I think. bah. EDIT: Finally went through! Yay!

Also, our internet has been awful lately. Cutting in and out, and when I try to stream, it just drops to zero. I think I'm being throttled. I may have to call them tomorrow and remind them that customers on business lines need that line to be available pretty much always if they want us to pay our bill. If I can't do my job, how am I supposed to make money? Goddamn.

I took a 'fic' down from AO3 the other day, because it's not a fic, and it was just kind of bothering me. But now that I took it down, my total word count dropped below 1M and I'm sad. I really liked seeing 1.1 million words written across my account. I'm about 80k short now. How sad. I took the work down because I wanted to rework it into a coherent fic, but my headcanon is so wildly removed from the rest fandom, and I don't really have a cohesive plot anywhere in the mess of stuff I've been posting, so idk. It's side-scenes from my RP (not RP logs; something that can be easily mistaken for fic), so it's one of those things that just goes on and on and on and on with no end. That's why I took it down, because it was just all kinds of awkward to have up, 100+ chapters with no end in sight.

I've made some progress on a couple of personal projects, and a commission this week. Very slow going on all of it, but hopefully things will turn around.

First one is the horses. Which have no horses so far. I thought I was in love with how well the green was blending, and then I got to the brown and wow, I think this is the best pattern I've ever drafted already. I wish the moon were a little more smooth, but I may pull that light patch out and re-do it if it bothers me too much.

The goat, which also has no goat. Goat's a colour test for green and blue, since I completely rebuilt my PCStitch index to have more accurate colours. Which has made these larger projects so much nicer. For some reason, small ones still get stupid and I don't know why. But man, that page took about two months, and you can probably tell why. What a ballache that is, and the ENTIRE THING looks like that. D:

My commission. The last one of four for this person. I've actually had to start over on it, because some last minute changes made it impossible to work around, and it was my fault for not checking my messages on it before I started. OH WELL. It'll turn into something one of these days.

Apps should apparently be processed soon. Yay! One of the mods is getting a PhD or something, and has been MIA for about two months because of it. The others just aren't present anymore. So I guess that's what's going on there.

I haven't been sleeping fricking all month, because my husband has been looking for a new job after quitting his current one. I haven't been sleeping because I use CBD to put my ass out every night, and even though we're in a legal state, he's in an industry with federal oversight, so he needs to be clean. More and more places even in that position have quit testing anyway, but we didn't want to risk him applying at the one place in town that still did.

There's a place right across the street from our apartment where he applied. He walked in to talk to someone a few weeks ago, they chatted for about ten minutes, and then told him he'd hear back once his background check came through. So, we gave it about a week and they still hadn't called. He'd call every day, and was told the relevant person would call him back. He went in a few times, but she was never there. I'm thinking, great, he's being ghosted. Please put in applications at other buildings.

Yesterday, he walked over there earlier in the morning, rather than waiting until after lunch. He was gone about 10 minutes before he came back. Apparently he's had the job since the first time he went in, but the person in charge has just been in a position where the building is so understaffed, she's been too busy helping doing what needs to be done to be able to deal with the understaffing problem. No interview, no application. Background check as a formality.

And the place doesn't test. So yay! I slept last night! Now I'm just looking at my email and waiting for 1pm to roll around, because we're going out for lunch with somebody.

I have woken up with a headache, and shan't be working today. Since I've had this headache since yesterday, and my medication has failed to work after two doses, I'm smoking a bowl or two and taking the day off. If I'm very lucky, I'll hear back from the mods on my app today. If I'm very extremely lucky, I'll get a Twitch notification in about 20 minutes that my podcast is actually on this week. I'm not optimistic about either of these things. Instead, I'll probably wind up watching Chernobyl and copying fic over from AO3.

I've been working on an id-feeding fic in my spare moments this week, and I can't decide if I want it to wind up being h/c or not. It's not a genre I've ever written, so it's completely brand new territory. But it also doesn't feel 'done' without it. I guess I'll just keep poking at it until it tells me to stop.

I need to edit a video for today too. And then tomorrow I need to film one. At least they're both easy.

EDIT: One hour later. No podcast, but that's not surprising. My video has been edited and exported. Headache is gone, finally, but boy am I not in the mood to count stitches. I'm vaguely thinking about making graphics for 'book covers' for all of my fic. Might as well, I mean.

Also, all of the RP threads I'm tracking are in permanent slow time and I'm sad.
