I'm streaming all day today over on Twitch. I'll be working on a couple of collaborative fics, trying to finish up Midgard Legends, and maybe even doing some plotting for my Marvel Bang fic. I might even record some podfic, depending on how I'm feeling.

Come hang out and chat, get some sneak peeks.

Whoops, I forgot to post a chapter yesterday. I forgot to do it in the morning because I was busy putting a video together to go out by noon, and as soon as that went up, we went out to go do some shopping and other running around. And by the time we got home from that, I was in so much pain that I just went to bed. I'll post a chapter in a little bit.

Right now, I'm taking a break from spending an hour cutting apart about eight pounds of beef. I finally got better racks for the oven, so now there's four pounds (minus whatever fat got trimmed off) becoming jerky, and the other four pounds (same caveat) marinading in some teriyaki to become jerky tomorrow. I love these new racks so much. Last time I made jerky, I got so fed up with the ones that came with the oven that I tried to perforate tin foil and put that over the racks. All we wound up with was some very overcooked steak strips that way. Before, I had to do a single roast in two batches, because the racks are just standard oven racks with about an inch between the wires. Whole roast, all stripped up, fits in there all at once now. Before, it would have taken me four days to do what I'm doing in two. So yay! And while that's going, I've got all the fat trimmings on the stove, rendering down to go into the fryer.

Also, regarding Midgard Legends: I haven't been streaming much lately because I've been focusing on finishing up commissions. There are a lot to do, and I really want to get this done. The thing is, my outline says I have five chapters to go. But in writing a scene out, I realised that four of those chapters are absolutely pointless, because they went against some of Loki's motives. So there's only one left! It will probably be an extra long chapter, but with what I'm cutting out, it really only leaves two more plot points. They just happen to be a fairly small one, and a very large one, and I don't think I'll be able to split them apart without having a 2k chapter, and then a chapter that's still abnormally large.

Starting next week hopefully, I'll be able to get on a good Twitch schedule. I just want to make my YouTube schedule sink in better. I might do Twitch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, since those are the days I don't stream on YouTube.

I've also been having fun over at [community profile] fan_flashworks for Who Killed Markiplier fic. It's been really interesting to explore a completely different interpretation of the canon than what I'm used to. I play a few characters from this series in my RP, and take a very different approach to it, because when I started playing, WKM wasn't a thing yet, and my main was just in a bunch of loosely-related sketches. My choices were to retcon about two years of work, or just go AU. Going AU was the easier choice. So playing in a more serious, surreal environment has been a lot of fun. I don't think there's going to be much bleed between the two, both because the AU I've established is so far removed from canon, and because a lot of what I headcanon would get me modcalled by some pearl-clutcher every three days. So, nope. Not going there. I'll keep it confined to AO3.

Someone linked to this Tumblr post a couple of days ago, and I have just spent the last two days applying it to about a million words worth of fanfic. One of AO3's biggest failings for me, of which there are many, is the inability to see where your readers are coming from. I don't need to know usernames of everyone who reads my fic, but it's always super weird to wake up to a wave of kudos and some comments from an obvious rec somewhere. Unless someone tells you who recced your fic, you're just kind of left wondering what the hell just happened.

The Tumblr post details how to use Google Analytics to fix this problem. I've always ever used it with sites that have built-in support, but I've never done it DIY like this. And it's surprisingly easy. Create a link in a way that it hides from AO3 (in this case, hiding it in an image tag), and put it in your fics. I can now see where clicks on every one of my AO3 uploads are coming from.

For those of you who keep clicking on ch21 of Midgard Legends, why? Now I'm wondering what it is about this particular chapter that got about 20 clicks today. lol

It's not completely foolproof. For instance, link clicks from a person's Tumblr, Twitter, or DW feed will return a result of Tumblr.com, Twitter.com, or Dreamwidth.org. That's because activity feed pages are unique to the person logged in, and the robot can't actually see the page the human on the other side of the screen is looking at. But if they click on a specific blog post or tweet, that URL will be be listed as the referral (unless the post has privacy settings on. Then it defaults back to the domain).

Another thing you'll notice, since you can't use javascript on AO3, is that pages without a self-defined label get funny when they're visited. You can tell it that your AO3 account is your site, and it will register clicks there, but it has a hard time actually giving pages on your account a name. There's probably a way to somehow embed that link into your page in a way that will make it work, but I'm too lazy to try.

But the end result is this is a thing that I've done. I'm too tired right now and I've already shut my stuff down, but starting tomorrow I'll try to upload one fic post here a day. Whether that's a one-shot or a single chapter of something. I want to get everything properly cross-posted. It's a lot of fic to work through, and may very likely take over a year at one post a day.

And a meme

It's not working on Twitch, and I need to just accept that. I got fucked up by a promo last year, and have never bounced back from it. It's weird to think that a promo would hurt a channel, but it has, immensely. I have about 300 followers, and they all look bought, because not a single one of them has ever actually watched my streams.

What's worse is that this was an official promotion run by Twitch, as part of their creative spotlight thing. I got shouted out on one of their official channels, people came in droves to follow, and now when someone new comes to my channel for the first time, they see 300 followers and no viewers. I honestly think I have to start over at this point. There's no way to purge inactive follows, so I'm just fucked.

Streaming on YouTube isn't as nice, but I think it's a bit better there. I've got some things I have to film today, and then this evening, since I'm home alone and won't have to stop awkwardly, I'll do a stream over there and see how it goes.

Also, I've set up a new pseudonym on AO3. I'll be posting some old and abandoned WIPs there, just to have them available. I'll also probably move a few over from my main pseud, just to get them off my page a bit.

I have woken up with a headache, and shan't be working today. Since I've had this headache since yesterday, and my medication has failed to work after two doses, I'm smoking a bowl or two and taking the day off. If I'm very lucky, I'll hear back from the mods on my app today. If I'm very extremely lucky, I'll get a Twitch notification in about 20 minutes that my podcast is actually on this week. I'm not optimistic about either of these things. Instead, I'll probably wind up watching Chernobyl and copying fic over from AO3.

I've been working on an id-feeding fic in my spare moments this week, and I can't decide if I want it to wind up being h/c or not. It's not a genre I've ever written, so it's completely brand new territory. But it also doesn't feel 'done' without it. I guess I'll just keep poking at it until it tells me to stop.

I need to edit a video for today too. And then tomorrow I need to film one. At least they're both easy.

EDIT: One hour later. No podcast, but that's not surprising. My video has been edited and exported. Headache is gone, finally, but boy am I not in the mood to count stitches. I'm vaguely thinking about making graphics for 'book covers' for all of my fic. Might as well, I mean.

Also, all of the RP threads I'm tracking are in permanent slow time and I'm sad.

Apps have still not been processed, and I'm dying. I want to EP so badly wahhh

I wound up yesterday not getting a whole lot of anything done. Not only was it Game of Thrones day, but Markiplier dropped a new video in his scripted series, whatever the hell it's called. So I spent a good amount of time yesterday just engaging in the meta for both over on Tumblr. Well, about half of yesterday. The other half was spent staring at the wall because the internet went out again, like it's done every day since Thursday. That's been super unfun, and the main reason I haven't been livestreaming. I just don't even want to try until I know that whatever issue there is, it's been fixed. I did finally get some better headphones for it though, since the ones I have squeeze my brain. So with those, I'll be able to get back into crafty streams as well as writing ones.

I've set up a new page where I'm going to be posting stuff I don't want to put on AO3. Mostly it will be early chapters until a fic gets finished enough to maintain a posting schedule, but there's also some more iddy stuff I've been working on that I don't want to put out there because 1, the fandom is so damn twee, and 2, I know for a fact the creators are on AO3. So fuuuuck that. Give a follow over on [profile] drawerfic if you want to see what I'm doing. Nothing's up there yet, but I think it'll start happening soon.

Also, jesus. I've been off LJ for ten years at this point, and I still can't figure out the DW-specific code for anything. All of my code on these posts still uses LJ parsing, because that's all I can remember.

I'm going to start doing some stuff around here and AO3 to tidy things up. There's some fic that really ought to be chaptered, but for some reason I've gone and uploaded it all individually. I'm going to try to consolidate that. I'm going to do the same for all my art, and just create a sketchbook sort of place on AO3 for all my art or something. IDK, I don't want to lose a lot of the stats, but it's so messy. D:

I'm also going to be uploading everything here, backdated so as not to clutter your shit up. Nobody likes that.

Not that anyone really follows me anywhere these days, but consider yourself warned.

I keep meaning to post, and then I wind up streaming until midnight and going straight to bed. Whoops. But I do finally have a proper schedule, because my husband finally has a proper schedule. His hours are going to shift earlier, which means that I could either shift mine earlier, or we could just make having a late dinner still a thing we do. Talking about it, he was fine with still having dinner around 10pm on nights that he works, with the caveat that if he's hungry before then, he can make something.

I stopped early tonight because I appear to have pulled something in my shoulder area, and there's a weird sharp pain every now and then, so I'm just gonna cool it with the stitching for a few days. Which is annoying because I still have this damn Pokémon thing to finish, but oh well. I sent an email off to my network letting them know what's going on, and they were understanding. Which, I'd have been surprised if they weren't, given everybody on YouTube has had corrupted video heartache before. I have decided that I'd rather just re-stitch those ones though, since my computer chair is super uncomfortable and would make me hate editing for a while. Considering how much I already think it's a ballache, let's avoid that and just re-shoot. I can still probably finish the lot of it off by mid-June, especially if I hustle.

I still haven't heard back from the mods on my plot, but at this point I'm going to work on the assumption that I can at least do part of it, if not the long-term goals I have with it. I have like, a month to just noodle around anyway, because I can't even take the next step until the end of June, since that's when other pre-arranged things with players is happening. But I can plan and put things together until then, so I should be fine. I also decided to pop back into the Discord, since having a proper day-to-day schedule will make it easier to arrange my free time.

And as a means of getting new ideas for things to do in between plot, I signed up for a [community profile] genprompt_bingo card. It might be kind of weird posting RP stuff over there, but I'm just here to have fun, and nobody has to read it. I'm gonna drop my card here, so I know where to find it. I really like the prompts I was given, and I think the opt-in model they use is really helpful in getting prompts that fit well with your canon. I've done bingo games before where half the prompts would either be wildly out of place, or wildly out of character, so this has me hopeful.
